It's been a hot minute since I've shared a blog.
This past year has been a ride - as I am sure most, if not all of you would agree.
I've taken a little bit of a break from photography due to the birth of my second baby last May, and the pandemic. We have been playing it extra safe over here because the thought of trying to take care of a two year old and a baby while sick just isn't appealing (ha!). I am still happy to take on outdoor portrait sessions with all the proper precautions in place, but am limiting the number of sessions per month to minimize the risk of spreading anything from one client to another.
But that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. I launched a new business, Sapwood+Soot, with my husband in December and have been devoting most of my spare time to that.
What is this new business, you ask? We create personalized family tree ring prints.
Trees grow in a way that we can see their annual growth rings in a cross-section of a tree trunk. We take a manual print of those tree rings, and visually represent the birth years of family members with different colours on the rings of the years the family members were born.
